Solid State GaN (Gallium Nitride) Amplifiers
Fairview Microwave’s solid state GaN (Gallium Nitride) power amplifiers (also called SSPAs) feature broad frequency bands ranging from 30 MHz to 7.5 GHz and very high gain levels from 43 to 60 dB. These GaN SSPAs also show impressive harmonic response (-15 to -20 dBc) under worst case conditions. Saturated output power levels range from 10W to 100W with 20% to 35% Power Added Efficiency (PAE). All of our high power solid state GaN amplifiers from Fairview have internally regulated single voltage supplies. SWIR Imagers
SWIR imagers (short wavelength infrared) are an important group of surveillance electro-optical imagers due several reasons. First, advances in InGaAs technology enabled design of relatively low cost SWIR imagers. Second, InGaAs imagers are very sensitive and can generate images of observed scenery even at dark nights. Third, SWIR imagers are less vulnerable to bad atmospheric conditions than TV/LLLTV cameras working in visible/near infrared band. Fourth, SWIR imagers can generate hi-res images even if they are built using much smaller optics than used for design of thermal imagers.

HMC7748
The HMC7748 is a multistage power amplifier (PA) that provides 25 W of saturated output power across the band of 2 GHz to 6 GHz. It draws 0.7 A from a 12 V supply and up to 4 A from a 28 V supply. Input signals of as much as −8 dBm are acceptable, and the module has small signal gain of 60 dB. The 12 V supply is regulated internally and generates the negative voltage required for the gate bias. Built-in bias sequencing prevents the drain voltages for the amplifier stages from being applied without the negative voltage present, which protects the amplifiers if 28 V is applied without 12 V supply applied.

They are employed as DC to microwave converters using the negative resistance characteristics of bulk Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) and only require a standard, low impedance, constant voltage power supply, thereby eliminating complex circuitry.
