Switch Module
PXI Matrix Switch Modules are organized into rows and columns and provide maximum flexibility for switching systems by allowing you to connect any channel to any other channel. PXI Matrix Switch Modules use a variety of relay types, including electromechanical armature relays, reed relays, field-effect transistor (FET) relays, and solid-state relays, each with their own benefits, allowing you to choose a matrix that fits your requirements. To program the switches, you can use the IVI-compliant NI-SWITCH driver software, complete with help documentation, example programs, and a soft front panel application for interactive control of switches. For intelligent management of complex switch systems, NI Switch Executive provides additional software tools to help you design, build, and deploy your switching system.

High Density Packaging and Integrated BackplanesWith Pickering's BRIC Large PXI Matrix Modules, the use of high density packaging and integrated backplanes enables a large matrix to be implemented with no user configuration or special matrix expansion kits. These matrices use thru-hole mechanical relays (not surface mount) and can be serviced using standard de-soldering tools simplifying repair and reducing down time. Our BRIC's integrated design ensures high matrix performance with high signal bandwidth and fewer system implementation errors.

Low-Density PXI Switch Matrix Modules

Our low-density PXI switch matrix modules are a cost-effective solution for applications that require relatively small matrices in the PXI format. These low-density switch matrices can be expanded by connecting together multiple modules, however, we recommend that users look at the higher density switch matrix modules that involve less user configuration. Reed relay versions use high quality sputtered ruthenium relays that exhibit excellent contact performance under low and medium level switching conditions. For general purpose applications that also require higher power handling, the range of electro-mechanical relays provides an ideal solution.
