Chroma's 17020 is a high precision system specifically designed for secondary battery modules and pack tests. Accurate sources and measurements ensure the test quality that is suitable to perform repetitive and reliable tests that are crucial for battery modules / packs, for both incoming or outgoing inspections as well as capacity, performance, production and qualification testing. Chroma's 17020 system architecture offers regenerative discharge designed to recycle the electric energy sourced by the battery module ei ther back to the channel s in the sys tem performing a charging function or to the utility mains in the most energy efficient manner. This feature saves electricity, reduces the facilities thermal foot print and provides a green solution by reducing the environmental impact on our planet. Chroma's 17020 system is equipped with multiple independent channels to support dedicated charge / discharge tests, on multiple battery modules / packs, each with discrete test characteristics. The channels can easily be paralleled to support higher current requirements. This feature provides the ultimate flexibility between high channel count and high current testing.

The PSM-R is a self contained AC power bridge excitation supply. This device consists of a low interwinding capacitance AC transformer and a high stability adjustable linear regulator designed specifically for driving transducer bridges. DC excitation is adjustable from 4 to 15 volts output and is capable of supplying 0 to 150 mA in output current. It features remote sensing to eliminate line drop errors and very low noise. It can also be used as a high quality voltage source or reference in many applications. AC input requirements are 105 to 125 VAC at 60 Hz.

Battery Fault Insertion Unit
The Battery Fault Insertion Unit (FIU) provides intelligent switching of cell-simulation channels for the Battery Simulator 1200. The switching capability enables simulation of open-circuit and short-to-rail fault conditions on any cell channel for the purposes of battery management system (BMS) testing. Additionally, a four-wire auxiliary input allows you to connect an external digital multimeter (DMM) instrument to any cell channel for very high-accuracy bypass current and cell voltage measurements. Each FIU provides 24 independently-programmable cell-switching channels for one or two 12-cell Battery Simulator 1200 units. Additional Battery Simulator 1200 and FIU instruments can extend functionality up to 120 series-connected cell channels.
