The Clamp-On Open-Loop DC MicroAmmeter & Insulation Fault Detector is a precision tool designed for detecting leakage currents in insulation systems. Featuring high sensitivity, this advanced microammeter measures direct currents as low as 1 microampere (uA) and operates within a measurement range of 10 milliampere (mA) to 10 amperes (A). Utilizing a clamp-on method with a toroidal ferro-magnetic core featuring an air gap, the device integrates AMR sensors from a differential Hall magnetometer for accurate readings. Its design is particularly suitable for large hydro generator stator windings but is also effective in various electrical applications.The device's functionality is significantly enhanced by its use of two micro-ammeters equipped with advanced signal conditioning units and a demagnetization circuit, ensuring precise data acquisition. The accompanying LabVIEW software facilitates real-time monitoring and visualization of data, allowing operators to effectively track leakage currents and identify faults within insulation systems. In our ever-changing landscape, important assets are buried or paved over making finding for them both difficult and time consuming. Valve and manhole covers are often lost after ground work activities, re-surfacing or after heavy snow falls. Buried boundary markers can also be difficult to find.
