Farran’s 77 GHz FMCW Radar front end is based on a GaAs MMIC chipset offering wide bandwidth in a small outline package.The transmit signal is derived from an external VCO signal, internally multiplied, which also acts as the LO for the receive mixer. The resulting IF is conditioned for gain and filtering as required. The IF also contains an industry leading IF noise figure, especially in the frequency range below 500MHz. The VM-585 is a combination of the popular VM-550 utility locator with the added benefit of a built in Ferrous Metal Detector. This makes it ideal for locating short distance runs such as service drops and to detect buried ferrous metal objects such as buried valve box covers, buried tanks, and manhole covers. The advanced filtering of the VM-585‘s metal detector rejects materials such as bottle caps and aluminum cans and zeros in on finding only ferrous materials. The manual gain control allows it to be controlled and able to work close to large metal objects such as automobiles and chain link fences while still looking for the targets underground. The VM-585 will locate through asphalt, concrete, or grass and in temporary conditions such as snow.

The 2291 Guided Wave Radar level transmitter is designed for continuous level measuring of conductive or non-conductive liquids, pulps and solids. The 2291 level gauge operates based on the well-known TDR (Time Domain Reflectometry) principle. Micropulses are sent along a probe guide at the speed of light. As soon as the impulse reaches the surface of the medium, it is reflected back to the electronic module. Level distance is directly proportional to the flight time of the impulse.
