Microwave Barrier (Radar)
-
The microwave barrier functions like a light barrier: when the medium gets in the way of the microwave beam between the transmitter and the receiver, the signal is attenuated. This change is detected by the receiver and converted into a switching signal.

Electronic Differential Pressure
Density Measurement
-
An innovative software and hardware concept makes it possible to combine any two pressure transmitters of the VEGABAR 80 series into an electronic differential pressure system to measure density. Electronic differential pressure measurement is used for measuring density change and/or for compensation when the level needs to be measured.

Flow
-
In flow measurement, the amount of material that flows through a certain pipe cross section per time unit is measured.

Vibration
VEGASWING, VEGAVIB, VEGAWAVE
-
In point level measurement with vibrating level switches, a rod or a fork is set vibrating. When the vibrating probe comes into contact with the medium, the vibration changes and the vibrating level switch outputs a switching command. Vibrating level switches are used as overfill protection devices or low-level indicators in liquids as well as in granular and powdery bulk solids.

Guided Wave Radar
-
A top-down, direct sensing technology that uses low-energy microwave pulses sent down a probe to accurately detect the boundary between two immiscible liquids.

Differential Pressure (Density)
VEGADIF
-
In density measurement of liquids with differential pressure, two pressure measuring points are mounted at a fixed distance from each other. There are thus two different pressures acting on the system. The differential pressure transducer calculates the density of the medium from the resulting pressure difference.

Pressure
-
Pressure transmitters measure process pressures as well as the levels of liquids, gases and vapours.

Electronic devices and circuits that manipulate, transform, and refine sensor signals to make them suitable for measurement, recording, or control systems.

Radiation-Based
PROTRAC
-
In radiometric, i.e. radiation-based, level measurement, a slightly radioactive isotope emits focused gamma rays. The sensor, which is mounted on the opposite side of the vessel, receives this radiation. Since gamma rays are attenuated when penetrating matter, the sensor can calculate level, point level, density or mass flow from the intensity of the incoming radiation.

Interface Measurement
-
Interfaces, that is, boundaries between separation layers, can be found everywhere in the process industry, e.g. in the chemical or oil & gas industry. An interface arises when two media with different densities are filled into a container: for example, water and oil. To separate the two media from one another, it is necessary to determine where the transition from one medium to the other is located. VEGA sensors can be used to measure both the total level and the interface reliably.

Capacitive
VEGACAL
-
In capacitive level measurement, the sensor and the vessel form the two electrodes of a capacitor. Any change in level causes a capacitance change, which is in turn converted into a level signal.

Controllers
-
Sensors gather measured values in a vessel and forward them to the controller. Through an adjustment in the controller, the measured values can be adapted to the specific conditions at the measuring point.

Indicating Instruments
-
In continuous level measurement, the filling height in a vessel is repeatedly detected. The measured value is further processed, e.g. as a 4 … 20 mA signal in a PLC or process control system. Indication of the measured value directly on site is also frequently requested.

Level Switches
-
In point level detection, a point level switch detects when a certain predefined level is reached. Such a device is employed when it is not necessary to measure every possible intermediate level, as is the case with continuous level measurement. A switching command starts or stops filling equipment such as conveyors or pumps. Point level switches outputting a binary signal can be integrated into a process control system.
