MIDI systems provide an efficient solution for customers seeking a Box PC with wide temperature performance and abundant I/O. MIDI systems feature expansion-ready front panels with removable cover plates to expose additional connector cutouts. The enclosure can easily accommodate up to two additional PC/104 style I/O modules or PCIe MiniCards. The cover plate provides ample cooling for our rugged conduction-cooled SBCs. The DS-MPE-SER4OPT offers 4 RS-232/RS-485 opto-isolated serial ports in a PCIe MiniCard form factor. Each port offers 16C550 compatibility and ultra-deep 256-byte TX/RX FIFOs. Maximum data rates are 1Mbps in RS-232 mode and 10Mbps in RS-485 mode. The board is available preconfigured for 4 RS-232 ports, 4 RS-485 ports, or a combination of 2 RS-232 and 2 RS-485 ports. I/O signals are provided on two miniature latching connectors, with 2 ports per connector.

CANbus Module

The module implements a CAN protocol bus controller that performs serial communications according to the CAN 2.0A and CAN 2.0B specifications. The protocol uses a multi-master bus configuration for the transfer of frames between nodes of the network and manages error handling with no burden on the host processor. Error analysis features enabling diagnostics, system maintenance, and system optimization. A listen-only mode enables CAN bus traffic analysis and automatic bit-rate detection.

The HELIX family of PC/104 SBCs combines mid-range CPU performance, standard PC I/O, and on-board data acquisition circuitry in a compact size and at a competitive price. Available PC I/O includes 3 or 6 USB 2.0 (model dependent), 4 serial ports (2 RS-232/422/485 and 2 RS-232), 1 10/100Mbps Ethernet, 1 Gigabit Ethernet, and a SATA port. The optional data acquisition circuit includes 16 16-bit analog inputs, 4 16-bit analog outputs and 27 digital I/O lines configurable as counter/timers and pulse width modulators.
