PXI uses commercial PC-based PCI bus technology while combining rugged CompactPCI modular packaging, as well as key timing and synchronization features. While derived from cPCI, PXI adds the timing and synchronization features, among other things, that were not present in cPCI.

CompactPCI Serial 3U Backplanes
Hartmann Electronic’s cPCI Serial Backplanes are compliant to PICMG CPCI S.0 CompactPCI Serial specification. These backplane are outfitted with a cPCI S.0 system slot for the CPU on either the left or right side and then have up to eight CPCI S.0 peripheral slots.
