An accelerometer is used in manufacturing machine maintenance to inspect equipment vibration. An accelerometer also is used in product testing to measure the vibration of various components.A triaxial accelerometer, also called a 3-axis accelerometer, provides measurements of the following parameters: vibration acceleration, vibration velocity and vibration displacement. In this way, vibration is measured and recorded with great precision.Most accelerometer products offered by PCE Instruments are portable devices. Many feature memory functionality so that readings can be stored and retrieved later for in-depth analysis. Some accelerometer models come with a manufacturer's calibration certificate. Viscometers

A viscometer, viscosity meter or rheometer is a measuring instrument used to determine a fluid's internal flow resistance or viscosity. The term viscosity typically refers to shear viscosity, i.e., how a material reacts to being sheared. Rotational viscometers with rotating spindles or rotors, also known as "cup and bob" or Searle viscometers, are the most common tools used to measure the shear viscosity of fluids. However, a fluid's viscosity also may be measured on the basis of stretching. Durometers

A durometer gauge or durometer tester is needed to perform a durometer hardness test procedure. Durometer devices determine the surface hardness of many different materials, including polymers and elastomers. Each durometer or hardness tester measures the depth of an indentation in the material caused by a defined force of a given geometric presser foot. The depth of the indentation reflects the hardness of the material. A general distinction is made between static and dynamic methods. In traditional static tests, the test force is applied uniformly with increasing magnitude, while in dynamic testing methods, an instantaneous load is applied.

Penetrometers

Penetrometers measure the firmness or hardness of fruit. Penetrometers are ideal for determining the best time to harvest fruit or to test its progress to maturity. The firmness of fruit is one of the most widely used parameters in testing its maturity, together with measuring the fruits sugar content using refractometers. Electronic penetrometers come with different diameter penetration points. This allows for fruit of different size and hardness to be tested. It is important that this first part of the measurement process is done correctly if the readings obtained are to be valid in making adequate decisions as to when the fruit should be harvested. It is important the the samples that are measured are representative of the entire crop, considering a sufficient minimum quantity sample, size and quality.

Moisture Meters

Moisture can be found in any material. Even materials considered to be dry have a minor amount of moisture. An imbalance of moisture, whether it be excessive moisture or too little moisture, can cause problems ranging from undesired mold and bacteria growth to cracks and defects. To avoid a moisture imbalance, it is essential to monitor moisture content with a moisture meter that returns accurate and reliable measuring results. A moisture meter can measure the moisture content of everything from the air (relative humidity) to construction and building materials (concrete, wood) to biomass and agricultural products (hay, straw, grain, corn, beans, pellets) to solid waste (pulp, slurry) and beyond. Many moisture meter devices can also measure temperature. The moisture measurement range of each moisture meter varies depending on the model. Some moisture meter products take moisture measurements, store the moisture measurement data to an internal memory or SD cad, and allow the stored moisture measurement data to be transferred to a computer for detailed analysis by means of an evaluation software. PCE Instruments' moisture meter products come factory calibrated. ISO calibration certificates are available optionally for purchase as accessories to most moisture meter models. An ISO calibration certificate may be important to your company in meeting specific quality standards.
