Sound Level Indicators
A sound level meter is a measuring instrument used to assess noise or sound levels by measuring sound pressure. Often referred to as a sound pressure level (SPL) meter, decibel (dB) meter, noise meter or noise dosimeter, a sound level meter uses a microphone to capture sound. The sound is then evaluated within the sound level meter and acoustic measurement values are shown on the display of the sound level meter. The most common unit of acoustic measurement for sound is the decibel (dB); however, some sound level meter devices also determine the equivalent continuous sound level (Leq) and other acoustic parameters. With a portable sound level meter, industrial hygiene and workplace safety professionals can measure sound levels in multiple locations to ensure environmental conditions fall within recommended exposure limits (RELs). Some sound level meter devices can be permanently installed for continuous monitoring of sound levels at a work or job site.An important attribute to consider when searching for a suitable sound level meter is its type or class. The type or class of a sound level meter defines the device's accuracy as per American National Standards Institute (ANSI) or International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) guidelines. Typically, "type" is the grade according to the ANSI S1.4 standard, whereas "class" is the grade according to the IEC 61672 standard. There are two types or classes assigned to sound level meters: type 1 / class 1 or type 2 / class 2. For assessing noise in basic industrial, commercial, educational, recreational or residential applications, a type 2 / class 2 sound level meter usually will suffice. For precision-grade assessments often made in a laboratory, a type 1 / class 1 sound level meter primarily is used. Light Meters
A light meter is a very sensitive electronic measuring device used to help monitor the illumination of any given area. Most light meter devices are small in size, simple to operate and equipped with an easy-to-read lighted screen made of special glass. Typically, a heavy-duty housing protects the light sensor inside the light meter from damage. A light meter is used for measuring brightness in lux (lx), foot candle (fc) or candela per square meter (cd/m²)measuring units. Some light meter devices are equipped with an internal memory or data logger to record and save measurements. Moisture Meters
Moisture can be found in any material. Even materials considered to be dry have a minor amount of moisture. An imbalance of moisture, whether it be excessive moisture or too little moisture, can cause problems ranging from undesired mold and bacteria growth to cracks and defects. To avoid a moisture imbalance, it is essential to monitor moisture content with a moisture meter that returns accurate and reliable measuring results. A moisture meter can measure the moisture content of everything from the air (relative humidity) to construction and building materials (concrete, wood) to biomass and agricultural products (hay, straw, grain, corn, beans, pellets) to solid waste (pulp, slurry) and beyond. Many moisture meter devices can also measure temperature. The moisture measurement range of each moisture meter varies depending on the model. Some moisture meter products take moisture measurements, store the moisture measurement data to an internal memory or SD cad, and allow the stored moisture measurement data to be transferred to a computer for detailed analysis by means of an evaluation software. PCE Instruments' moisture meter products come factory calibrated. ISO calibration certificates are available optionally for purchase as accessories to most moisture meter models. An ISO calibration certificate may be important to your company in meeting specific quality standards.

Penetrometers
Penetrometers measure the firmness or hardness of fruit. Penetrometers are ideal for determining the best time to harvest fruit or to test its progress to maturity. The firmness of fruit is one of the most widely used parameters in testing its maturity, together with measuring the fruits sugar content using refractometers. Electronic penetrometers come with different diameter penetration points. This allows for fruit of different size and hardness to be tested. It is important that this first part of the measurement process is done correctly if the readings obtained are to be valid in making adequate decisions as to when the fruit should be harvested. It is important the the samples that are measured are representative of the entire crop, considering a sufficient minimum quantity sample, size and quality.

Durometers
A durometer gauge or durometer tester is needed to perform a durometer hardness test procedure. Durometer devices determine the surface hardness of many different materials, including polymers and elastomers. Each durometer or hardness tester measures the depth of an indentation in the material caused by a defined force of a given geometric presser foot. The depth of the indentation reflects the hardness of the material. A general distinction is made between static and dynamic methods. In traditional static tests, the test force is applied uniformly with increasing magnitude, while in dynamic testing methods, an instantaneous load is applied.

Cable Fault Meter
A cable fault meter can locate open power cables, either live or dead (without current), with voltages up to 300 V. A cable fault meter can locate cables, circuits, short circuits and ground wires. To perform these functions, it is not always necessary to disconnect electrically sensitive devices or to disconnect the power from the cable which is being tested. Hygrometers
A hygrometer is a device used to measure humidity. Many hygrometer products also measure temperature. A hygrometer that measures both humidity and temperature often is referred to as a thermo-hygrometer. PCE Instruments (PCE) offers a wide variety of hygrometer products used to measure the relative humidity of the air.Since humidity is an important factor in many sectors including but not limited to manufacturing, agriculture, construction, restoration, remediation and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), PCE also carries a number of hygrometer devices designed for specific applications such as measuring the humidity in bales of pressed hay or in rolls of paper. A hygrometer also can be used to evaluate heat stress risk in hot work environments like boiler rooms, factories, construction sites and commercial bakeries. To accurately assess heat stress risk, a hygrometer capable of detecting and classifying temperature in relation to the amount of moisture content in the air is recommended. The global standard description for heat stress is the Wet Bulb Globe Temperature Index (WBGT). A combination hygrometer / thermometer, or thermo-hygrometer, can be used to verify the integrity of the cold chain during the transport and warehousing of refrigerated food and pharmaceutical products. This versatile and popular style of hygrometer also is ideal for evaluating the performance of HVAC systems in industrial, commercial and residential properties. If the humidity indoors is too high, mold can occur. Certain types of mold cause respiratory problems and other negative health effects for people living or working in the surrounding environment. In addition, mold that has permeated into the walls or roof of a structure must be removed for safety reasons. Mold remediation and removal, also called mold damage restoration, can be a costly endeavor, which is why preventative monitoring of the humidity indoors is preferable whenever possible.
