Sound recognition is one of the main application areas of artificial intelligence. Various sound recognition techniques exist and can be used for recognizing speeches, music, environmental sounds, animal sounds, air-borne or structure-borne machine sounds, etc. These techniques contain in common signal pre-processing, feature extraction and feature matching / classification algorithms from a general perspective. However, they differ in implementation in different applications.
