Shock Control
-
Shock testing simulates an extreme event that a unit under test is exposed to during handling, shipment, explosive event and/or daily use (e.g. dropping an object). The profile for this type of testing is defined by the shape of the time domain waveform together with its amplitude and duration. The m+p VibControl vibration control system offers full functionality for classical shock and shock response spectrum testing as well as for tests using external pulses or the capture of transient signals.

Heat Stress Meters
-
The heat stress meter is mainly used in the workplace. The heat stress meter can detect and classify temperature in relation to the amount of moisture content. What is heat stress? And why is heat stress measured? People who work in installations or with machines that produce a lower energy level or a high emission of temperature can occasionally suffer heat stress (by the influence of body temperature). This phenomenon can also cause physiological symptoms: spasms, feeling unwell and shock that can in some cases prove fatal.

Fire Suppression/Detection
-
Dexter's sensitive yet rugged fire detectors, or fire sensors, serve as the foundation of US combat fire suppression systems on combat aircraft and ground vehicles ranging from the HUMVEE to the Abraham's Tank. Our fire sensors consume low energy, making them the premier safety component on battery-powered as well as hot-wired systems. We like to call them "the eye that never sleeps." How fast are they? Fast enough to race the fire caused by a rocket hitting a fuel tank and win, triggering fire suppression on the spot to help protect soldier and pilot alike. Rugged missions require rugged equipment. Intensive MIL-STD-883H testing performed by Trialon Corporation, an independent testing facility, confirm that Dexter Research's silicon-based temperature sensor detectors meet the same rugged requirements of 1,000G's for mechanical shock and 30G's in random vibration for which our thin-film detectors are famous. Endevco Cryogenic Charge Output Accelerometers
-
PCB's acquisition of Endevco's full line of testing sensors means all Endevco sensors are now backed by PCB's Total Customer Satisfaction (TCS) guarantee. Endevco® cryogenic piezoelectric accelerometers are built specifically for measuring vibration under cryogenic conditions down to -452° F (-269° C). Signal outputs of these units are very stable even at extremely low temperatures. Their rugged internal construction is designed to withstand multiple cycles of thermal shock with steep temperature gradient. The accelerometers are self-generating devices that require no external power source for operation and contain no electronics. This allows them to operate below the -320° F (-196° C) limit of ICP accelerometers, down to -452° F (-269° C).

Accelerometers
-
Columbia Research Laboratories
The force balance accelerometer has a classical critically-damped, second-order frequency response. There is no peaking in the response but simply a smooth roll-off above the natural frequency. This property along with the excellent characteristics of the "HP" torquer design makes Columbia accelerometers the best choice for demanding applications where precise DC and near-DC measurements are needed in demanding shock and wide band vibration environments. Columbia force balance accelerometers are available to cover virtually all applications. Low noise, high output units can be used for seismic structure motion studies while miniature, high range versions are optimum for measuring more violent high G environments encountered in many industrial, aircraft and missile applications.

General Inclinometers

Columbia Research Laboratories
Columbia's SI-701 Series of Inclinometers are electronic tilt sensors based on Force Balance Accelerometer technology. They produce high level low impedance output proportional to the sine of the tilt angle. Model SI-701B is a low cost general purpose sensor that can be up-graded with the addition of the Columbia "HP" torquer system (SI-701BI) for greater accuracy and ruggedness. A bi-axial version of both units (SI-702B) is also available. The Model SI-701BI is designed with an output circuit made for 4-20mA data transmission systems for industrial applications. The model SI-701FND is a fluid dampened premium performance inclinometer designed to produce accurate tilt data in extreme shock and vibration environments. The latest addition in the line is Model SI-701WPBI, a waterproof (to 150 feet) inclinometer which operates from a +15 volt supply with 4-20mA output. A single power supply powers both the sensor and the 4-20mA line driver.
