The Type RPD-2 Radio Frequency (RF) Proximity Detector is designed to detect and locate devices that radiate radio waves in the high frequency to low microwave frequency range. Such devices often include surveillance and “spy” equipment. The Type RPD-2, when used with the different sensors, will detect the emanation of the radio wave within a confined area, and then isolate its location to within approximately a square foot. The type RPD-2A may be used as an RF field strength indicator for antenna field strength measurements. The RPD-2A is identical in function except that the meter scale is calibrated in relative dB units.

Temperature Sensors

The infrared sensor measures temperature at a distance without contacting the target. The integrated infrared module senses the thermal radiation emitted by objects on a 16 x 4 array of sensing points, for measuring the temperature distribution across a surface. These 64 measurement pixels are transmitted via CAN to the host controller or data logging device. The sensor is available in both 35 and 60 field of view options to suit a variety of installations. The Innovative Technical Systems ITS-9050 Detector is a sensitive, harmonic mixing detector designed to measure millimeter-wave free-space radiation. It is ideal for measuring radiation patterns of antennas inboth the near and far-field. The ITS-9050 employs a free-running dielectric resonator oscillator (DRO) and an integrated harmonic mixer with a waveguide RF input that either connects directly to a circuit under test or to an antenna for radiation detection. The resulting IF is amplified and detected by an IF log-detector that drives a front panel LCD voltmeter to provide an indication of signal strength. A DC output voltage from the log detector is available on a BNC connector to drive external data acquisition instrumentation. Also, a sample of the IF output is provided for measurement on a spectrum analyzer.
