TySOM Embedded Prototyping Boards

TySOM™ is a family of embedded system prototyping boards. Depending on the board, one of three FPGAs will be at its heart: a Xilinx Zynq® UltraScale+™, a Xilinx Xilinx Zynq-7000 or a Microchip PolarFire SoC. The boards are compatible, through industry standard interfaces (FMC or BPX), with Aldec’s wide range daughter cards, making Aldec’s TySOM embedded prototyping boards ideal for the rapid development of applications that include automotive (and ADAS, in particular), artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), embedded vision, embedded-HPC (including edge-processing), IoT, IIoT and industrial automation.

Design for Test

Test Coach offers Design for Test (DFT) consulting to assist customers with design review of prototype boards prior to release for production. Design for Test analysis is extremely important in ensuring that an assembly will achieve the highest possible test coverage. For ICT, this DFT will review the board to confirm that the bed-of-nails test fixture can be fabricated to test an assembly without sacrificing test coverage. As with ICT, Flying Probe benefits from DFT analysis by reviewing test point access and mechanical challenges that may affect the potential test coverage. Completing a DFT enables Test Coach to make recommendations to our customers that may be implemented on boards during the design phase which will allow for the most comprehensive coverage at time of test.

VI Control Systems has designed two converter boards that make it easy to connect data acquisition boards to breadboards and allow easy computer control and monitoring of prototyped electronic circuits. The converter boards are 0.8 x 3.5 inches and have silk-screened pin numbers for every pin on the board. The 68-pin SCSI converter can also be used to connect 68-pin SCSI cables to prototype solder boards that have 0.1 inch centers.

Boundary Scan Test

Boundary Scan is a very useful tool for quick, low-cost, re-usable powered-up test of an assembly for basic functionality. Because a fixture with test probes is not required, it is possible to have a working test available within hours or days, rather than weeks. Designers can receive rapid feedback on their prototype boards with tests that can be used again during production testing, as well as for device programming. Given power, ground and Tap port signals, tests can be written to assess the performance of the boundary scan enabled parts on an assembly and other parts on the boundary scan chain.

Qseven is a Computer-on-Module (COM) standard for small sized and highly integrated systems adopted by SGET.
