AOI Handlings System
The AOI handling system is a compact facility with various test units. Via an ionization cleaning station the ceramics are transferred to the contacting station. There, the resistance values of the substrates are tested with a rigid needle adapter. Afterward, the ceramics are further conveyed to the three (optionally four) AOI test stations (for automatic optical inspection) and are tested for cracks, unevenness, faulty imprints, contamination, etc. The poorly evaluated ceramics arrive at a review station where the operator can assess and evaluate the errors on the monitor. If the operator is uncertain about a fault, the ceramic in question can be positioned under the microscope position and inspected by eye. Poorly defined ceramics are marked accordingly with an ink pen.

Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)
Marposs complements its geometric measurement solutions with solutions for non-destructive testing using eddy current technology. The testing options can be divided in three large groups:Material integrity test, to check for the presence of defects (cracks, porosity, blow holes, inclusions) on the surface and in the layer just below the surface.Material properties test, to check if the thermal cycles (hardening, hardening and tempering, annealing, stress relieving, etc.) have been performed correctly. Material identification checks are done to sort parts with the same geometry but made with different materials.Thread inspection to check if the treading has been carried out and its quality. In addition to the non-destructive checks performed with the eddy currents, we have developed a durometer for the conventional measurement of surface hardness, according to the Rockwell scale (HRC or HRA); which uses a diamond penetrator to measure the hardness of the sample being tested.

Special Use Sensors
Structures can, and do, break, and this may be important and sometimes dramatic. It’s critical to determine whether a particular object made from a particular material can carry a particular load. If a true stress is ignored, the cost of not acting is usually far higher than the cost of dealing with the problem earlier. A good example is in ductile materials. The crack moves slowly and is accompanied by a large amount of plastic deformation around the crack tip. The crack will usually not extend unless an increased stress is applied. Geometrical irregularities, such as cracks, sharp corners and holes – which many times are ignored – may raise the local stress.

Torque Multipliers
Mountz torque multipliers make tough nuts easy to crack. They boost productivity, giving your workers the power to quickly turn the large fasteners found in the aerospace, transportation, mining, marine, oil/gas, and power generation industries. Mountz torque multipliers can improve process control compared to less controlled options, like impact drivers, and they guarantee quality of work. They generate less reaction torque than impact drivers as well, protecting your workers and their projects from harmful hammering. Electric and pneumatic torque multipliers are also much faster than hydraulic ratchets, helping you get more work done in less time. To top it off, they’re quiet, reducing the din of the workplace and helping to prevent hearing-related injuries.

Fatigue Testing And Certification
Fatigue engineering is subject to uncertainty, and data from well executed tests are used to validate conclusions made by analysis and to provide a basis for structural certification. Our staff have extensive experience in testing materials and components under slowly varying, static loads, and under rapidly varying cyclic loads. Tests under static loads are used to assess material properties or to assess the load-deformation behavior of structural components. Tests under cyclic loads provide time to crack initiation, time to failure, or measurements of crack growth over time. We have extensive experience in measuring fatigue crack growth behavior in metallic materials. Past programs have measured crack growth with microscopy and photogrammetry at the surface, cracked area with direct current potential drop, and through-thickness crack profiles with quantitative fractography. By assessing crack growth with a variety of experimental methods, we enable robust analysis validation for cases of complex cracking. Our capabilities in fatigue engineering allow for careful design of a fatigue test program. Whether the tests use constant amplitude loading or an irregular loading spectrum, we specialize in engineering the test that meet your needs. Much of our experience is in non-standard test programs, which require engineering to optimize the test setup. Few others match our capability and experience in fatigue test engineering.

Sand & Dust Test
This test method is divided into two procedures. The small particle procedure, using fine dust is performed to ascertain the ability of equipment to resist the effects of fine particles which may penetrate into cracks, crevices, bearings, and joints. The blowing sand test, using coarse particles, is performed to determine whether equipment can be stored and operated under blowing sand conditions without experiencing degradation of its performance, effectiveness, reliability, and maintainability due to the abrasion or clogging effect of large, sharp-edged particles.

Cupping Tester
PCE-CPT 20
PCE-CPT 20 is a cupping tester, or coating flexibility tester, used for testing the adhesion, elongation and deformability of paints, lacquers, varnishes, powder coatings and other surface coatings on metal sheets. Used in manufacturing production, paint shop and quality control applications, the PCE-CPT 20 cupping tester aids in determining coating strength, durability and elasticity. A mandatory test in Qualicoat and QIB accredited quality control laboratories, a cupping test, also referred to as an Erichsen test or dent test, uses a spherical punch to deform a sample. This deformation results in a cup-like bulge. When using the PCE-CPT 20 to perform a cupping test in accordance with the ISO 1520 standard, the sample should be placed coating side up so that the 20 mm spherical punch presses against the uncoated underside of the metal sheet. The cupping test is terminated when small cracks and/or detachments are observed on the bulged part of the sample. The PCE-CPT 20 cupping tester's easy-to-read display shows the bulge deformation distances that can be used to determine the coating's flexibility rating.

Ozone Climatic Test Chamber
The Ozone Test Chamber provide an effective solution to the testing of products for resistance against ozone degradation in a controlled environment. These test chambers function as static tensile test chambers as well as Rubber Test Chamber and are often used for studying static tensile deformation of various manufactured goods in the presence of ozone. The equipment works by exposing the test samples to uniform concentrations of ozone at constant temperatures and relative humidity in a sealed air environment. Under these conditions, the products undergo the process of corrosion which can be observed in the form of surface cracks and changes in other properties.

Roughness Testers
Roughness is an important parameter when trying to find out whether a surface is suitable for a certain purpose. Rough surfaces often wear out more quickly than smoother surfaces. Rougher surfaces are normally more vulnerable to corrosion and cracks, but they can also aid in adhesion. A roughness tester is used to quickly and accurately determine the surface texture or surface roughness of a material. A roughness tester shows the measured roughness depth (Rz) as well as the mean roughness value (Ra) in micrometers or microns (µm). Measuring the roughness of a surface involves applying a roughness filter. Different international standards and surface texture or surface finish specifications recommend the use of different roughness filters. For example, a Gaussian filter often is recommended in ISO standards.

Building Monitoring
Crackmeter
The system consists of two plates that overlap for part of their length. One plate is calibrated in millimeters and the overlapping plate is transparent and marked with a hairline cursor. As the crack width opens or closes, one plate moves relative to the other. The relationship of the cursor to the scale represents the amount of movement occurring. These gauges are monitored over time, whilst being kept as far away from human disturbance as possible, to develop an understanding in the width and direction of movement of the crack.

X-Ray Inspection
X-ray inspection systems are used wherever defects need to be detected by non-destructive means. The spectrum of use is broad and ranges from quality controls for complex assemblies, to the testing of materials for cracks and air inclusions, to foreign matter inclusions and shape deviations. The trend toward miniaturization, higher packing densities, and the relocation of components to the interior of the assembly require precise X-ray inspections that detect hidden defects quickly and reliably. X-ray systems from Viscom are used for the inspection of series assemblies as well as sampling and prototype controls. They take care of typical inspection tasks in concealed areas such as void controls, THT filling level measurements, and HIP inspections. At the same time, the systems reliably determine defect features such as coplanarity and polarity – at high inspection speeds and in a cost-effective way.
