RSE Wireless EMC Spurious Emission

The R&S®TS8996 RSE test system is designed for EMI and radiated spurious emission testing on wireless devices in semi-anechoic or fully anechoic chambers. The modular design makes it easy to extend the system to include new communications technologies. Typical devices under test include mobile phones or radio sets along with radiated measurements of other short-range devices. Standards require a wide range of test setups and a wide and high frequency range (up to 40 GHz). EMC Testing
EMI is emitted radiation and its effects – a phenomenon. EMC is a device’s ability to limit the levels of unintentionally emitted EMI (that can harm other devices) and also a device’s ability to operate normally when subjected to EMI. Therefore, EMC testing seeks to ensure that a product possesses the characteristic of Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC): the ability to limit creation of EMI (Electromagnetic interference) and the ability to operate properly when subjected to EMI. Stated differently, EMC testing measures the level of EMI control found in a device, and therefore helps to ensure that unwanted effects are prevented.

Automotive EMC Testing
Having been assessed by Ford Detroit’s EMC expert, we are Australia’s only Ford (and NATA) accredited automotive EMC test laboratory. Others have tried, but none have succeeded. Ford does not accept reports from EMC labs that are not on the Ford list of accredited labs. The scope ranges from component to complete vehicle level EMC testing for Australian and overseas manufacturers. We also have a fully dedicated CISPR 25 Electronic Sub Assembly (ESA) chamber, another large CISPR 25 anechoic chamber for vehicle testing or susceptibility levels in excess of 500V/m. We possess a vast array of specific automotive EMC test equipment such as BCI’s, tri-plate’s, and striplines for susceptibility and emissions testing to meet the most stringent automotive EMC requirements. RED Directive Testing & Certification
The Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment Directive (R&TTE Directive 1999/5/EC) has been in place in the EU for many years serving radio and telecoms technology. To accommodate developments in radio equipment technology and to align with the requirements of the New Legislative Framework (NLF), the EU R&TTE Directive has been re-written. As of 2016, the European Commission replaced the R&TTE Directive with the Radio Equipment Directive (RED), which establishes safety and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements for equipment using the radio spectrum. Following June 13, 2017, after a one year transition, the RED 2014/35/EU replaced the R&TTE Directive. All new and existing products within the scope of the RED must comply in order to achieve CE marking.
