Synchros and Resolvers are transformer-type voltage/current transducers that convert a shaft or other rotating device's angular position and/or velocity to a multi-wire AC electrical signal. Both deliver signals proportional to the Sine and/or Cosine of the shaft angle. A Resolver-to-Digital or a Synchro-to-Digital converter is used to convert these signals to a digital output corresponding to the shaft angle and/or velocity.

Radio Telemetry
Procter & Chester Measurements Ltd
Radio Telemetry: A transmission of data from a remote source via a radio to a receiving station for recording and analysis. Inductance: A contactless method of supplying power to (in this case) a strain gauge bridge. The signal is then transmitted back to the electronics. Slip Ring: Consists of a conductive band mounted on a shaft and is insulated from it. The wheatstone bridge is connected to the bands (usually four off). Fixed brushes or contacts make contact on to the bands to transfer power to the bridge and signal back to the static instrumentation.

Rotating Torque Meter
NTS-6 series (S1/S2/S5/S10/S20)
Torque measurement of rotating body. Measure rotational torque during assembly of devices with rotating functions and on finished products. While the output shaft self-rotates, the built-in sensor catches load fluctuations on the rotating body. It is possible to measure the rotation starting torque of the rotating object ( which does not rotate by itself and does not have power) and the load torque during rotation. (Printers, copiers, zoom lenses, door knob mechanisms, hinge mechanisms, etc...)

Absolute Optical Encoder
A2
Product DescriptionRestriction of Hazardous SubstancesThe A2 absolute encoder is a non-contacting optical rotary position sensor which reports the shaft angle within a 360 deg. range. As opposed to incremental encoders, the A2 reports the absolute position rather than the change in position. When powered up, it does not require a home cycle, even if the shaft was rotated while the power was off. In multi-turn mode, it tracks the position in a 32-bit counter as long as the power supply is maintained. Internally, an infrared LED flashes through a circular bar code onto a linear array sensor. The microcontroller decodes the image into a unique position. All user programmable parameters such as resolution, origin, direction and mode are permanently stored in an internal EEPROM

Rotary Shaft to Shaft Torque Sensor
Futek Advanced Sensor Technology, Inc.
The Rotary Shaft to Shaft Torque Sensor category has Torque Sensors which are used in slip ring and non contact rotary torque measurements. The most common utilization for these models is for inline/reaction applications, where measurements can be made in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions. The Rotary Shaft to Shaft Torque Sensors are CE certified and utilize a bonded metal foil strain gauge. As with most FUTEK products, we will gladly work with you to customize or modify our Torque Sensors to meet your precise needs.

Rotary Position Sensors
Using the same technology as our linear range but with a printed rotary coil opposed to the wound linear coil our rotary sensors offer the same high performance as the linear sensor range but with shaft driven rotary or gravity driven tilt measurement. The standard P500/P502 rotary sensors can be manufactured with a measurement range anywhere between 5 and 160. We also manufacture miniature rotary sensors such as the P501 and P505 and the P503 flat PCB style version for customer application fitment. Like our linear sensor range our rotary sensors are also customisable should the standard range not accomodate your application.

Angle Indicators
Computer Conversions Corporation
This series of units were designed to satisfy Hi speed multiturn synchro/resolver applications where the output data must be fresh and no data staleness can be tolerated. The tranducers utilized are the same as in the regular MDS series, however different tracking electronics are used. The resultant data tracks the input shaft perfectly and is always fresh and accurate at input speeds up to 64 revolutions per second, depending on the resolution. Data in BCD or Binary formats are available, and clean, unambiguous crossovers are guaranteed.

Tachometers/Stroboscopes
Shenzhen Graigar Technology Co.,Ltd.
Measurement of the speed of a rotating shaft is a common requirement in many industrial and laboratory applications. Such measurements have usually been carried out in the past with the help of contact type tachometers with friction drive. More recently digital optical non-contact tachometers have been designed which count the reflected pulses from a white patch on the shaft and then display the speed in rpm. The light source is usually a filament lamp operating with dry cells leading to limited life and illumination. A similar ideawith magnetic pick-up from a particular area of the shaft has also been used for speed measurement.

Autopilot Directional Gyroscopes
4000C/D-series
The 4000C/D is an air-driven directional gyro with A.C. autopilot pickoffs. Left turns produce clockwise dial rotation and right turns produce counter-clockwise rotation. Two knobs control the gyro. The left knob is used to cage the unit, and the right knob is used to select the instrument’s heading. To change course, the right selector knob is pressed and turned to disengage the dial shaft and set the pointer to a new heading. Releasing the selector knob re-engages the pointer with the dial shaft. As the aircraft turns onto a new course, the pointer returns to its original position. The on-course position of the pointer is always at the top of the azimuth circle (0° on the dial with the aircraft headed north).
