Solar Array Simulator
Among other things, solar array simulators are required for testing satellite power supplies. An SAS (Solar Array Simulator), consisting of an interconnection of several Solar Array Simulator modules, maps the solar panels and displays the individual strings connected in parallel. Optionally, the individual SAS modules are monitored by a Second Level Protection, so that the test object is not damaged in case of errors with the voltage sources. Additional circuitry is implemented via project-specific test modules. The signal path to the DUT can be separated, e.g. for dynamic current measurements.The Keysight Solar Array Simulators used were specially developed for satellite applications and cover the significantly higher requirements regarding the control speed of MPP tracking compared to terrestrial applications.

Grid Simulators
A grid simulator can be used to simulate the characteristics of low-voltage mains. For this purpose, all voltages and frequencies of the supply networks occurring worldwide can be simulated. Critical states such as short-term voltage dips or voltage peaks (surge/burst) can also be generated.The integrated sequencer function enables the generation of different network parameters, e.g. distorted waveforms and intermediate oscillations. Therefore, grid simulators are well suited for testing conformity to standards and especially for determining the behaviour of electrical equipment in borderline situations. Many European and other international standards are pre-programmed for testing.

Test Database Software Module
The relational test database is the pivotal point of the software structure. On one hand, this is where the test applications and test systems used for productive testing are stored; on the other hand, it provides the storage space for all DUT-related test data. Depending on customer requirements, the test database may either be hosted locally on the test system or centrally on a server, supporting several test systems. The database performance is sufficient for a high-volume production environment with many test systems which access the central database in parallel. LXinstruments prefers to implement the database as a license-free MySQL database; it is however also possible to realize a version based on Microsoft SQL.

RF-Antenna Communication Links Functional Test
The application encompasses functional tests of very large quantities of automotive antenna amplifiers, plus parallelization of tests by implementing several test stations in a rotary indexing table. The DUTs are inserted manually and after final assembly, they are loaded into the rotary table; this requires manual triggering by the operator.

Multi Channel Optical Fibre Verification
The multi-channel optical fibre test system is used in the development and qualification of single mode optical fibres. The fibres are exposed to environmental influences in a climatic chamber in order to analyse the data on insertion loss and reflection. In addition, the current temperature in the climatic chamber is documented. Insertion loss measurement is performed with the help of an optical power meter, laser sources and optical switches. An Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) from Exfo is used for the reflection measurements. The system was designed for the simultaneous characterization of 15 sample fibres and one reference fibre.

The PXI-5412 is a 20MHz arbitrary waveform generator for generating custom arbitrary waveforms and other standard functions such as sine, square, triangle, and ramp. The arbitrary generator generates signals from -6 V to +6 V and uses direct digital synthesis (DDS) to generate precise waveforms.

HV-Test System for Capacitor Packages
The system is used to characterize the leakage currents of capacitor packages. LXinstruments implemented a project-specific PCBA for the required HV switching. The measurement technology consists of Keithley source meters and USB based devices. The DUT adaptation with safety technology was realized in cooperation with ATX.

Maintenance & Maintenance-/Service Contract
With cars it is easy: Change of oil, check of breaks and V-belt .. etc. - that is normal. But your test system does not need all these things. However it makes sense to look after your test system occasionally and check or change special idems. If you take the time and plan a preventive maintenance your test system will have less unplanned failure times. Less dust means less heat and slower ageing of electronic components.

Testsequencer
LXinstruments has many years’ experience in using both the TestStand test sequencer by National Instruments and TestExec SL by Keysight Technologies.The use of test sequencers for functional testing is crucial in order to increase productivity during the implementation and maintenance of the test software. Test sequencers make it possible to decouple the actual product-specific test sequences from infrastructure components like e. g. user interface, data storage, process interfaces and driver libraries. This ensures easy reusability of the implemented software components.

Multifunctional Safety Tests
Manufacturers of electrical or electronic products are required by law to carry out an electrical safety test before placing them on the market. This final test takes place at the end of the manufacturing process and is therefore also referred to as an EOL test (end-of-line).
