In certification laboratories for photovoltaic modules, steady-state solar simulators are mostly used for stabilization / light soaking tests (MQT 19) and hot-spot endurance tests (MQT 09) according to IEC 61215 and IEC 61730. An initial stabilization is required for all PV modules that undergo a standard test procedure. For the hot-spot endurance test (MQT 09), it is important that the operator has easy access to the front and back site of the module. During the test, it is necessary to shade one cell after each other to take infrared pictures, which requires good visibility of the entire back side. Our swiveling module holding system enables easy access to the front and back side of the module.

The LumiSun-50™ is a high power, multi-wavelength LED solar simulator that meets IEC 60904-9 Class AAA for spectral match, uniformity of irradiance, and temporal stability. The LumiSun-50 achieves a spatially uniform illumination field from a chip-on-board (COB), multiple-wavelength LED die array. The field of illumination is 50 x 50 mm at a working distance of 200 mm. The LumiSun-50 includes a driver/controller which individually provides constant current to each die in the COB array. Total irradiance of 1.1 sun units is provided and can be decreased to 0.1 suns. The LED light source of the LumiSun-50 is contained within an air-cooled housing that can rotate the angular beam alignment. Adjustment and setting of the optimum light path working distance is visually facilitated by a converging pair of red dot laser pointers.

The portable multipurpose 3i device (Intellectual Insulation Indicator) is for eff ective high-voltage equipment insulation monitoring on-line. The 3i device measures and analyses partial discharges (PD). For eff ective PD measurement and noise rejection, there are two types of sensors used in the device: the acoustic sensor and the TEV sensor. Both the sensors are built into the device case, and so do not need any connection cables. Based on the 40-260 design principles the module can provide a setting resolution of <8mΩ (PT100) or <90mΩ (PT1000) and a resistance accuracy of better than 0.1% on all channels. Each simulation channel is able to provide a short or open circuit setting to simulate faulty wiring connections to a sensor. Calibration or verification of each resistor channel can be verified by using the calibration port connected to a high performance DMM and a supplied software package.
