The LDD100 employs a digitally programmable analogue end stage for flexible and accurate current control. Currents of up to 600A with pulse durations of 50ns to 3s are generated with rise and fall times of 70ns (F-version) or 600ns (XL-version) – essentially without overshoot. Due to the flexibility in setup and control, the LDD100 is practical for many laboratory applications. For automated measurements, the unit may be directly controlled via the USB interface. Alternatively, all parameters may be input via the graphical software or via the integrated keypad and OLED display.

Differential amplifiers allow the process of single-ended input to complementary differential outputs or differential inputs to differential outputs. These amplifiers feature two separate feedback loops to control the differential and common-mode output voltages. Analog Devices fully differential amplifiers are configured with a VOCM pin, which can be easily adjusted for setting output common-mode voltage. This provides a convenient solution when interfacing with analog-to-digital converters (ADCs). ADI also offers a series of differential receiver products that convert differential input signals to single ended output.

The magnetic field detector works without contact, so that opening the housing is not necessary in most cases. When a magnetic field is detected, the probe tip lights up permanently blue, with clocked relays in the same cycle as they are controlled. The function of the magnetic field detector can be checked before each measurement with the enclosed test permanent magnet.

Virtual serial ports created in VSPD behave as if they were real ports and are taken for the real ones with the serial applications. These instruments generate current pulses whose amplitude is largely independent of the load voltage. This makes them ideal for pulsing device whose voltage may vary with time (for instance, the voltage drop of laser diodes may vary with temperature, or explosive squibs which change impedance during ignition). This voltage independence is a trade-off with speed. If faster rise times are required, consider using pulsed voltage instruments instead.
