Low Noise Pre-Amplifiers

Low Noise Pre-Amplifier and companion external low noise amplifier (LNA) are used to amplify low level microwave signals. The Pre-Amplifier contains an AC/DC power supply, internal low noise amplifier, and a bias tee to source a DC bias voltage on the RF input connector.To overcome cable loss between the test antenna and the Pre-Amplifier assembly, a remote low noise amplifier (LNA) is mounted directly onto the 10 GHz antenna. A bias tee inside the Pre-Amplifier chassis powers the remote LNA through the coax cable interconnecting the pre-amplifier and the 10 GHz test antenna.

The TC4047 miniature hydrophone offers a useable frequency range from 1kHz to 170kHz. The hydrophone incorporates a high quality 20dB low-noise pre-amplifi er which provides optimal conditions for signal transmission. The high sensitivity provides excellent signal to noise ratio and immunity against induced cable noise. The hydrophone is omnidirectional up-to 100kHz and has uniform receiving characteristic from 1kHz to 100kHz. An insert calibration circuit enables remote testing of the hydrophone condition. Modern prepolarized microphones are designed with newer technology than traditional externally polarized microphones. Prepolarized microphones have many advantages over the externally polarized models. They use ICP® power circuitry invented for sensors by PCB®. By applying a polymer coating to the top of the backplate and embedding a charge on it, expensive 200V power supplies can be eliminated and 2-20 mA constant current supplies or signal conditioners can be used as the power source.
